BEIJING, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Super League (CSL) club Shanghai Shenhua announced on Tuesday that it has signed Brazilian striker Saulo Mineiro from Brazilian club Ceara SC.
The 27-year-old player can play different positions upfront and will "effectively enrich Shenhua's attacking options," the Shanghai club said in a statement, without giving any details of Mineiro's contract.
According to a statement from Ceara SC, Mineiro cost Shanghai Shenhua a transfer fee of 950,000 US dollars.
Shanghai Shenhua finished second to cross-city rival Shanghai Port in the CSL last season. It topped the table for most of the season until the penultimate round where an unexpected 2-2 draw with Shenzhen Peng City allowed Shanghai Port to eventually win the title. ■
